1.0 ABSTRACT
Arbitration has emerged as a preferred method of dispute resolution in Nigeria due to its efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and confidentiality. It provides an alternative to the often lengthy and expensive litigation process. However, despite its advantages, arbitration in Nigeria is not without challenges, particularly concerning the enforcement of arbitral awards. This paper; using the Doctrinal research methodology, examines the enforcement of arbitral awards in Nigeria and the impact of judicial intervention. It explores the legal framework governing arbitration, the enforcement process, and the extent to which Nigerian courts influence and impact arbitration proceedings. It went further by comparing Nigeria’s arbitration landscape with that of other jurisdictions in a comparative analysis, the article seeks to highlight the challenges and therefrom propose reforms that could further encourage and strengthen arbitration practice in Nigeria.
