Focus and Scope

Journal of Management & Social Sciences is an interdisciplinary journal of management and social sciences that publishes high quality theoretical, empirical, and review papers covering the broad spectrum of management and social sciences research. It is a peer-reviewed journal that adopts an open access policy in the production and dissemination of knowledge. Studies within the range of disciplines in the management and social sciences are welcome from scholars all over the world. The JMSS started publication in 2011. It is indexed EBSCO host, Google Scholar. Efforts are being considered for inclusion in DOAJ, AJOL and other indexing bodies.

Publication Schedule

The journal publishes manuscripts as soon as the peer review process is completed. The journal publishes twice a year - May and November. Articles whose review process is completed first get published online for the two editions. Then, such articles are processed for hard copies for the November edition.

Review Process

The journal accepts manuscripts that contain original research written in English Language which are neither previuosly published  nor under any consideration for publication elsewhere.  All articles submitted to the journal undergo a double-blind peer review process. The journal Editor accepts or rejects an article based on its alignment with the scope of the journal or its low quality. The Editor then sends the article to two experts in the field who will review and make recommendations on what should be done with the paper. A reviewer's evaluation form is sent alongside with the paper. After the review, the author is sent the paper (containing the reviewer's comments)  together with the reviewed paper and reviewer's comments.

Publication Charges

The Journal charges fees for publication. Authors are to pay a review fee of N5,000/$13 only. Accepted manuscripts for publication in JMSS will attract N20,000/$51.84. An Author will be entitled to a hard copy while the soft copy could be accessed online.

Conflicts of Interest

Authors are required to disclose any financial interests ( e.g employment, significant share ownership, patent rights, consultancy, research funding) in any company or institution that might benefit from their publication. All authors must provide details of any other potential competing interests of a personal nature that readers or editors might consider relevant to their publication. To prevent ambiguity, authors must state explicitly any cases of potential conflicts. Conflict of interest should be declared in the text of the submitted manuscript directly following the Acknowledgements.


The journal expects that proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work. Information obtained privately, as in conversation, correspondence, or discussion with third parties, must not be used or reported without explicit, written permission from the source. Information obtained in the course of confidential services, such as refereeing manuscripts or grant applications, must not be used without the explicit written permission of the author of the work involved in these services.

Authorship of the Articles

Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
