This study examines the audience perceptions of newspaper review programmes on radio stations in the Yoruba language, focusing on residents of Ibadan North East Local Government Area, Oyo State. The newspaper review segment has become a significant part of radio programming in Nigeria, serving as a bridge between print and broadcast journalism. While the reviews are often delivered in English, the increasing use of indigenous languages such as Yoruba makes them more accessible to local audiences. The study employed a survey method, and a sample of 375 respondents was drawn from a population of 473,700 using the Taro Yamane formula.. Data were collected using structured questionnaire and analysed using descriptive statistics techniques. Findings revealed that the majority of respondents prefer newspaper reviews in Yoruba because they enhance comprehension, promote cultural identity, and facilitate inclusiveness in media consumption. However, challenges such as occasional misinterpretations of news items and inadequate handling of complex political or economic terms were also noted. The study concludes that the use of Yoruba in radio newspaper reviews has a positive influence on audience engagement and information retention. It recommends that radio stations should strengthen the quality of indigenous-language reviews and train broadcasters to ensure accuracy and professionalism.
